Massachusetts Casino Plans ‘Bingosino’
The Mashpee Wampanoags� tribe in Massachusetts is planning to open an Indian casino resort in Beacon Hill, Boston. However, if denied permission they will open a �Bingosino� instead.
�Bingosinos� are casinos that feature bingo slot machines instead of video slot machines. Those bingo slots are allowed even in the state where slots are banned. The main reason: the wiring system in bingo slots is not the same as the one used in video slots.
The difference is that on bingo slots, players bet against each other and not against the house. Also, when starting a bingo slot, a bingo screen comes up for a little while, then it�s rapidly replaced by a regular screen of a video slot. But, complexities and details aside, technologies have made both types of machines hard to distinguish.
With gambling getting more and more popular everyday, the tribe insists that they will be able to build a gambling resort, even when that probably means using bingo slots. The Seminole tribe, in Florida, tried something similar and succeeded when their state still banned slots.
